Friends of Women’s Cancer Research Foundation (WCRF)

Meet Lindsey Ellis from Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Our friendship with Lindsey started on the first day of August when she called Sophia Kang, Executive Director/Treasurer of Women’s Cancer Research Foundation. Lindsey had just lost her beloved mother Karen Guthrie, an endometrial cancer warrior of 4 years, the week before. Lindsey was heartbroken, but she chose to fight to raise awareness in women’s cancers, just like her brave mother. She knew that a better cure and efficient treatments must be out there somewhere.
When the company she works for, DriveTime, announced their plan for the annual charity event, Lindsey started searching for a cancer research foundation that offers hopes and better lives to patients and their families. Thanks to her relentless work, she finally found the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation (WCRF) in Newport Beach, California, 2,200 miles away from her home. She also organized the 5k run through Camp Jordan Park as a tribute to her mother, Karen.
“My fight to raise awareness and find cures for cancer has just begun. My hope is to continue to try and raise money so that one day no one has to experience the pain she went through or the pain as a family we went through watching her.”, Said Lindsey who learned of WCRF’s research on new cancer treatments and was impressed by the organization’s low overhead of 10%.

Ever since then, Lindsey has been a great supporter for the mission of Women’s Cancer Research Foundation (WCRF) to improve the cure rates of women with gynecologic cancer through innovative clinical research.
One of Lindsey’s hard works as a supporter includes her own Facebook page for the WCRF Chattanooga branch. (https://www.facebook.com/Chattanooga-Womens-Cancer-Awaren…/…).

Women’s Cancer Research Foundation (WCRF) appreciates Lindsey for her bravery, compassion and most importantly the friendship we got to build with her.
