The WCRF has been approved to participate in the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), which conducts nationwide clinical trials. This is exciting news as it will provide additional opportunities for women afflicted with gynecologic cancer to access more, novel cancer treatments.

Singer Songwriter Sarah Kelly Supports WCRF

Artist Sarah Kelly supports the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation by donating publishing royalties from the song “Live Every Love Song” from her album Midnight Sun. More than 10,000 units have sold from album release to present (9/2010 to 12/32/11). Not only does Sarah donate royalties from this song but she wrote the song for the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation. A song that truly inspires and offers hope to all women. Thanks, Sarah

98 Women Enroll in WCRF Clinical Trials in 2011

The WCRF enrolled 98 women in seven(7) new clinical trials in 2011. These trials offer newer more promising treatments for breast cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer (first time diagnosis and recurrent trials), and patients with ovarian masses. While the WCRF has treated hundreds of patients over the years; this is a record enrollment for a 12 month period. WCRF hosted a successsful well-attended Gala fundraiser at the luxurious Balboa Bay Club & Resort on Saturday, September 10th. The evening began with tray-passed teal martinis, pink champagne and scrumptious hors d’oeuvres. Guests enjoyed state of the art electroic bidding devices for the silent auction and patient appeal. Followed by a delicious four course meal complete with a variety of exquisite wine pairings, live band and entertainment. Special guests included Celebrities Bob Gunton (played the Warden in the Shawshank Redemption) and Connie Needhan (TV Show Eight is Enough).

WCRF Meets with US Congressman Darrell Issa

WCRF Founder and Chairman, Dr. John P. Micha, Board Members and dedicated WCRF supporters met with US Congressman, Darrell Issa, on June 7, 2011, to promote gynecologic and breast cancer research. The primary goals were to accelerate the pace of clinical trial research throughout the U.S. and begin a dialogue with the National Cancer Institute in Washington, D.C. regarding the manner in which these studies are conducted and funded. Congressman Issa expressed his appreciation for the challenges inherent in cancer research and hopes to investigate the current process and the potential for future improvement.
